Why we love this bottle

Tissot is the family that defined what Jura wine could be. Stéphane took over from his parents in 1990, converted everything to biodynamics by 2004, and spent three decades learning to get out of the wine’s way. Fifty hectares across some of the finest terroirs in Arbois, farmed with the kind of patience and precision that shows in every bottle. What makes the estate remarkable is not one great wine but the entire range: a consistent, honest expression of what this strange, beautiful region can do.  We love it because there is nothing performative about it. Every bottle is just Tissot being Tissot.

DD is named after André Tissot, Stéphane's father. The cuvée is a tribute to the generation that preceded him, a time when red Jura wines were standard blends of the region's three indigenous red varieties. Stéphane built his reputation on terroir-driven single-parcel wines, but with DD he deliberately returns to that earlier tradition. It's his affectionate nod to the past, made with all the knowledge and precision of the present.

Equal parts Poulsard, Trousseau and Pinot Noir, co-fermented in large 2,000-litre foudres with a long, gentle maceration. The result is a light but structured red with broad, soft tannins that feels surprisingly fuller than the colour suggests. A serious vin à soif.
