Why we love this bottle
Saskia is one of the wines that helped define Miles Mossop’s style when he first stepped out under his own name. Before that, he spent years as winemaker at Tokara, one of the Cape’s most respected estates. That experience shows: his wines are never loud or heavily worked. Instead, he focuses on precision, texture and honest fruit.
The vineyards he sources for Saskia sit across the Western Cape, many of them older parcels that naturally give lower yields and better concentration. The blend changes slightly each year, but the philosophy stays the same: freshness first, structure second, richness only where it belongs. The élevage is patient and controlled, giving the wine shape without pushing it into heaviness.
Saskia carries all of that. It has layered fruit, quiet depth and a smooth palate, but there’s always a line of freshness that keeps the wine upright. The slight bitterness at the end is not a flaw; it’s a detail that gives the wine tension and direction.
We love it because it shows why these Cape white blends are becoming so respected. They’re textural, thoughtful and complete, but still easy to drink. Saskia is exactly that: a confident, balanced wine made with intention.
