Why we love this bottle

AR.PE.PE is a historic estate in Valtellina, a dramatic Alpine wine region in northern Lombardy where Nebbiolo (locally called Chiavennasca) grows on narrow terraced vineyards carved into steep granite and gneiss slopes above the Adda river. The estate was rescued and relaunched by Arturo’s children in the late 1980s, and is now run by his grandchildren. AR.PE.PE is widely considered the most traditional and uncompromising producer in the appellation: long macerations, large old wood, no modern shortcuts.

We love it because this is the most accessible entry point to one of Italy’s most magnificent and least-known wines.
