I went thirteen years without drinking alcohol, so your options get limited pretty quickly when it comes to drinks with any real depth. But when I discovered wine, a whole new world opened up, one of nuance and character. Ever since, I've wanted to know as much as possible about this magical drink.”

Best bottle you ever tasted?
The best bottle I ever had? A glass of water at 4am after a very long night. Best wine? Still haven't had it. But there's one glass I won't forget: a Giacomo Conterno Monfortino 2008, with two good friends, at the end of a day that needed it.
Guilty pleasure pairing go to?
Lightly spiced, smoky birria tacos with a sour, slightly sweet Riesling. Don't knock it until you've tried it.
Region/winemaker on your radar?
I'm still learning, honestly. I started with Spain, moved through Italy and France, and right now Germany and Austria have my full attention. Next up: South Africa. I have a feeling it won't disappoint.
