Why we love this bottle
Tissot is the family that defined what Jura wine could be. Stéphane took over from his parents in 1990, converted everything to biodynamics by 2004, and spent three decades learning to get out of the wine’s way. Fifty hectares across some of the finest terroirs in Arbois, farmed with the kind of patience and precision that shows in every bottle. What makes the estate remarkable is not one great wine but the entire range: a consistent, honest expression of what this strange, beautiful region can do. We love it because there is nothing performative about it. Every bottle is just Tissot being Tissot.
Macvin is a Jura speciality made by stopping the fermentation of grape must with marc brandy from the same estate. Tissot makes his from Pinot Noir, macerating the grapes for ten days before adding his own marc in stages. The alcohol is added gradually to allow a little fermentation between additions, building complexity. Deep ruby. Dark cherry, dried cranberry, liquorice and spice with a warming marc note. Rich and sweet but not cloying, with surprising freshness behind all the depth.
